I want to pinpoint clearly and deliberality the imporance of reading a book. The major problem in the Deaf commuity is that most of the Deaf people lack the skilled level of writing and reading. The one of the general reasons, why they lack the skilled level of writing and reading, is that most of them simply don’t like to read a book. This problem increases my concerns. I always feel that someone needs to encourage the young children to read a book for their sake in the future and, it turns out, a someone is me.
Wow! You are a very smart kid.
I agree with you about encouraging others to read the book.
By the way, your bedroom is awesome!

Well, who doesn’t, eh?
Nicole,
Correct! I’ve been thought similiar as when I became younger mother to my first daughter. I signed and talked .. So, my first child, Lilly always love to read it until I discover and wonder why Lilly cannot talked at all I was not fear she is deaf. Until I discovered she is speech delay for some reason but, Funny. she was about 2 and half old. she know the words but not tell me of her expression of words. Not even ASL .. I tried to sign her everyday. but she only 10 words some of kind. Kind of my concern she might learning disabitiy.. One day I tried to find a school for her .. Improved her speech.. etc. It was very hard to find a school for her. something the barrier for Lilly’s speech.
One day I disappointed that Lilly did not go to school. I started worry about not talk more vocubuary and took a test. It was failed. so I talked with speech therpist. The lady tried to talk and tell her what is your name.. Lilly did not response.. I told the lady she can read. but not response back.. she was happy and I stunned and confused. The lady from U of Washington.. she told me to not worry about her.. she figure what is wrong with her. she think speech is one of problem is that her hearing test was perfect… My husband and I still puzzled .. Very next day One more time she looking for speech teacher. who is training with her.. The lady say What is your name how you can say your name?
Lilly was not answer. Can you talk back. she finally say a words. I said About time she picked up the words. then they suggested me to sent with Disabities kids. she hang out with them.. but she improved fast.. but teacher told me How did you teach her words. I said ASL .. she did not use ASL language very well.. The teacher puzzled.. but Lilly can read and tell everyone a story.. we were speechless! Lilly can read .. I was confused.
I beleive it was close captions. but not spoke her own words.
I think the reason why she picked up the words when she was 2 and half yr .. then finally can talk after 2 year old. then better .. Pick alot of words by 3 and half. My older sister stunned .. What are you saying,Lilly? she point the window.. the name of shopping. My sister asked me did you teach her.. I said at EEU, at U of WA speech teacher found that she is really bright student but not able talk.. That how she know the words before 3 year old. Finally ..
Nicole, I think I pushed Lilly so hard to read it before her own asl. I dont know why I always encouarage ASL first. but she appear lost in first place.
Guess what ! Lilly is now senior this fall. Her grade has been always A straight. I still never knew what made her not speaking her own first place. I know she was say Da Da” when she was 6 month old and finally never spoke afterward after only she know Dad, mom and Hi.
Only three words for her age was 2.5 yr old. Strange?
I realized She read better than her own asl and talking the words.

Hi,
I did went library every 2 weeks. i got 4-6 books from library. Mostly, I finished 3 books in 2 weeks. Few of those books is ok-ok and I threw it away. so, I started to read by myself to read the chapter book when I was in 5 grade because my school was not giving us to read the chapter book. i was become interesting to read a novel than school do teach us from textbook.
